WIP: Fires on Seas of GoldI was surprisingly unaffected by the pyrotechnic display of a crudely constructed shanty burning to the ground, the third today. I'd seen dozens of the things burn down before, and even though the first time was exciting as all hell and a little scary, the idea of being a paid arsonist/tax collector had lost its initial luster. The image that ingrained itself in my head now wasn't the flaming destruction I wrought from my hands, not anymore. Now, it was that of the people I had evicted with a mere wave of my hand, reacting as fire danced at my whims, destroying their livelihood. I've had a few people want me to build computers for them, but I generally refuse, as that makes me tech support. It's probably decent money, but I've always viewed the computer as more of a occasional hobby than anything I'd want to seriously make money off of. I'm always more than happy to show someone how to build their own and help them pick parts, though.
The reason for the Plextor, was that I bought a Sony, that ended up a dud and was beyond the Newegg return policy time, so my geek of a buddy who does build pcs for a living, just gave me the brand-new-still-in-a-box Plextor! I wasn't going to argue O.o
The main reason for wanting the window/lights in the casing, was so I could use the body for secondary lighting rather than waste more electricity by having a lightbulb on behind/near me as I very well know how monitors/screens in the dark can really ruin your vision.
Just built my Dad his comp a few months ago, knowing he wasn't a fan of the lights or giant monster of a case idea, I gave him the mid-tower powder black generic with extra bays. The main difference between mine and his, was that he gave me a budget to work with, whereas I knew I'd be spending a lot and only wanted parts I wouldn't have to upgrade for five or so years.
